My Unforgettable Encounter with a Quantity Surveyor

My Unforgettable Encounter with a Quantity Surveyor  in 2020

In 2020, I met a quantity Surveyor in a computer business centre. We exchanged numbers.  After some weeks, I needed the service of a quantity Surveyor. Instantly, my mind went to him.

I racked my head to think of any other quantity surveyor I know, but no other name came to my head, so I decided to contact this guy.

He sounded professional, educated me a lot, and this made me trust him.

Boom! I contracted him for the job. Made a part payment for him to start the job.

The day he was supposed to deliver the job, he switched off his phone. Number not reachable. My temperature went up. I started sweating immediately "What! is this another case of scam?"

To make the matter worst, I don’t even know his house or his office, just mere trust for a guy I met in a business centre. Everyone I discussed with blamed me for being stupid.

On the second day, his phone number became reachable again, and that was the day I was to deliver the job to my client, and my client planned to travel with all the documents to his town.

I called the quantity surveyor he said he was done with the job I told him to bring the job. This guy insisted that I must pay his balance before he delivers the job. I thought, what if after paying his balance, his number became unreachable again? What will I do? I entered into another panic mode.

I finally paid his balance. At this point my client can no longer get the document that day again. Because before his number became reachable, it was already late.

That was how this guy frustrated my client’s scheduled journey that day.

He finally sent the job through a dispatch rider the following day.

I vowed never to have anything to do with this guy again but then, after going through his work, his work was very good.

I asked myself a question how can a professional of this calibre have a very bad customer relationship like this?

Anyway, this has been our horrible experience in trying to get a job done for us in this part of the world. No one can be trusted. Everyone is a suspect.

Professionals cannot be trusted, nor can clients be trusted.

Most times, after delivering a job to a client, paying his balance becomes a problem.

This is one of the reasons LINKA.NG was created.

No more trust barriers because there is a third party between you and your client.

This is how it works in 3 steps.

  1. Client pay full amount to place an order for the job to the company’s account. The money enters ESCROW mode. The professional doing the job does not have access to the fund.

  2. When he completes the job, he sends it to the client. When the client is satisfied with the job, he asks the company to release the money to the professional.

  3. The company releases the money to the professional. Everyone is happy. The client is happy his job has been done, the professional is happy, he has made some money.
